Therefore, the contributions of design on packaging were observed, more specifically on forty wine labels, in a comparison of strategies from the two production poles: twenty from the Old World and twenty from the New World. For the analytical method, the focus was the correlation of technical information and elements of visual communication, analyzing the hierarchical and differentiating variables of the informational system and the application of visual language attributes in the selected sample. That way, it was possible to perceive that, depending on the place, different information is emphasized, creating new dynamics of meaning so that not only technical information is presented, but also an experience that brings the producer closer to the buyer closer through characteristics that resemble traditions of the vitivinicultural universe.
Various elements, such as typography, are employed to meet this demand. Typography, understood as the field that studies the history, anatomy, design, and use of typefaces, has undergone significant transformations propelled by advancements in digital tools. One of these transformations has been the implementation of variable fonts, which incorporate different widths, weights, slants, and numerous other variations into a single font file. In light of the foregoing, the present study aimed to identify the impact of variable fonts on information design in digital media and the field of typography. To this end, ten interviews were conducted with type designers and experts in variable fonts operating in different contexts and countries. The interviews were transcribed, and data analysis employed the content analysis method and categorical analysis technique, supported by qualitative data analysis software. As a result, it was possible to delineate the characteristics and attributes of variable fonts that contribute to information design in digital media and their implications for typography, particularly in the practice of type design.
2024-04-29T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Maíra Woloszyn, Berenice Santos Gonçalves https://www.infodesign.org.br/infodesign/article/view/1125 Guidebooks with recommendations for the design of teaching materials aimed for low vision public: evaluation from the Human-Centered Design perspective 2024-02-17T11:25:21-03:00 Juliana Bueno julianabueno.ufpr@gmail.com Emilia Christie Picelli Sanches emilia.ecps@gmail.com Karina de Abreu Antoniolli antoniolli.kari@gmail.com Marluce Reque marlucereque@gmail.com Caroline Rodrigues de Lima carolinerlima625@gmail.com
A crucial step in the development of a product or system, evaluation is intrinsically linked to Design processes that start from a human-centered approach. These guidebooks were developed from an inclusive design perspective and, in this case, in addition to bringing simple content to the public, they should also meet accessibility specifications. The process had two rounds of evaluation: (1) evaluation with Design specialists and a teacher with low vision and; (2) specialist teachers in the education of people with low vision. Two focus group sessions were conducted, one of which involved a questionnaire. After data interpretation through content analysis, it was concluded that children perceive emotions and recognize multiple intelligences during their interaction with the reported games, identifying specific mechanics and moments associated with these emotions. As a secondary finding, it was observed that the adapted session, featuring illustrative cards developed based on previous responses from the children, showed superior performance in questions about learning. The connection between learning and individual engagement, with engagement being intrinsically linked to emotions, is evidenced through the participants' own perceptions. It was concluded, through literature and practical demonstration that this interaction exists and can be beneficial for learning different skills, with the collection of such data being important for prioritizing the needs of individuals in design and education. The adaptation with cards, tailored to the group's needs, fosters greater interaction and involvement, aligning with the constructivist notion of children's participation in research, knowledge to which this study aims to contribute.
2024-04-29T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Misa Uehara, José Guilherme Da Silva Santa Rosa https://www.infodesign.org.br/infodesign/article/view/1074 Characterization of the Grasshopper Parametric Design system as a means of capturing and representing design knowledge 2024-02-16T17:08:35-03:00 Guilherme Parolin guilhermeparolin.dsg@gmail.com Vinicius Gadis Ribeiro vinicius.gadis@ufrgs.br Léia Miotto Bruscato underlea.bruscato@ufrgs.br
Knowledge generated in design projects, properly captured and represented through Design Rationale systems, can be seen as a source of unique value and, therefore, as a source of competitive advantage for organizations. In this context, the potential of the Grasshopper Parametric Design system as a Design Rationale system is explored by comparing it to conventional gIBIS and QOC systems. Three comparative analysis criteria are applied: 1) syntax; 2) representativeness of design parameters and their relationships; and 3) representativeness of informational flow, in which, based on the DIKW framework, the informational processes performed in the use of the analyzed systems - research, ideate, evaluate, relate, and apply - are related to the four informational levels - data, information, knowledge, and wisdom. Analysis points to evidence that Grasshopper can be considered a Design Rationale system and suggests potential differentials compared to conventional systems, as well as directions for future research.
2024-04-29T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Guilherme Parolin, Vinicius Gadis Ribeiro, Léia https://www.infodesign.org.br/infodesign/article/view/1140 Health information design: envisioning and creating new ways of caring 2024-03-10T19:30:52-03:00 Sara Miriam Goldchmit saragold@usp.br
Advances in the past few decades have led to a radical transformation in how healthcare systems, communities, and individuals approach the concepts of well-being, health, and disease. Today, it is possible to access an infinite amount of data with the potential to diagnose, predict, prevent, and personalize disease treatment. The digital transformation generates a huge demand for the development and management of health information systems. At the same time, effective communication of medical information is one of the critical points for the person-centred care approach, to generate value and reduce waste. In the face of complex social challenges, interprofessional collaboration between design and health is already seen as indispensable. With the aim of contributing to the debate on information design for health in Brazil, this paper presents an overview of the area, discusses the current challenges of the health sector and the synergies with information design. It concludes that participatory approaches, performance evaluations and a greater link between information design and service design are important for the creation of more sustainable collaboration strategies between the areas, to increase the social impact of design research in Brazil.
2024-04-29T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Sara Miriam Goldchmit https://www.infodesign.org.br/infodesign/article/view/1142 Design: what margin are we in? The reflection on its consequences and the impacts caused on those involved in the project, and on society, is fundamental to the discussion on the positionality of the designer, immersed in a cultural context and his responsibilities. As these are recent events, difficult to analyze with due impartiality, it relies on authors such as Paulo Freire (2011, 2013, 2017), Rafael Cardoso (2013), Ahmet Ansari (2015), Felipe Kaizer (2023) to collaborate in the problematization, and therefore, does not present paths or solutions.
2024-04-29T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Fernanda de Oliveira Martins
