This article shows the kitsch as established world-wide phenomenon and identifies its presence in the work ofPedro Almodóvar through the analysis of Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown (1987), Tie me up! Tie
me down! (1989) and Kika (1993), three of the most kitsch films by the spanish director.
